SFH 1949-1978 for East and West Germany – compilation of representative buildings

The synthetic single-family house from 1949 to 1978 for East and West Germany is derived from the following eight representative buildings. 

 

Two-storey single-family house, 1962, mixed construction (concrete, masonry), flat roof, no attic

  • Exterior walls: washed concrete, aerated concrete with wooden cladding    
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete
  • Roof: flat roof with soft covering and gravel

 

Two-storey terraced house, masonry construction, non-developed attic

  • Exterior walls: lightweight perforated brick    
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete
  • Roof: gable roof (wooden rafters) with hard roofing

 

Two-storey terraced house, masonry construction with facing shell, flat roof with roof terrace

  • Exterior walls: sand-lime brick        
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete
  • Roof: flat roof with soft covering and greening

 


One-storey family house, wooden construction, developed attic

  • Exterior walls: wooden frame construction        
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete (basement), wooden beam ceiling    
  • Roof: insulated gable roof (wooden rafters) with hard roofing

 

Two-story terraced house, masonry construction, non-developed attic

  • Exterior walls: sand-lime brick with thermal insulation        
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete,  wooden beam ceiling (attic)  
  • Roof: gable roof (wooden rafters) with hard roofing

 

Two-storey single-family house with basement and converted attic    

  • Exterior walls: plastered sand-lime brickwork
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete (basement, ground floor, first floor), wooden beam ceiling (attic)    
  • Roof: gable roof (wooden rafters) with hard roofing (tiles)

  • Exterior walls: sand-lime brick    
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete (basement, ground floor), wooden beam ceiling (attic)
