The daycare centers are primarily equipped with group rooms, common rooms and bedrooms as well as sanitary facilities and staff rooms. There are also rooms for technical equipment, janitors and ancillary areas (office, pram/equipment storage, checkroom, kitchen). The entrance areas (foyers) of daycare centers and kindergartens are often spacious and representative.
The day nurseries and kindergartens analyzed are buildings with one to two storeys. They are both reinforced concrete and timber supporting structures, combined with solid and timber construction walls. The main building materials used are therefore reinforced concrete, masonry bricks (bricks, sand-lime bricks) and timber.
