19 objects from the BKI databank (BKI-Datenbank 2015) were evaluated in order to derive characteristic areas, volumes and material indicators for warehouses. All objects were considered which contained a hall and which were primarily used for the purposes of storage. The range of buildings stretched from “pure” warehouses (e.g. beverage warehouses, warehouses for recycled paper or for scaffolding) to warehouses that are combined with offices and/or workshops and manufacturing areas, to more complex storage, sales and office buildings (such as warehouse and distribution buildings, logistical centres). Depending on the required function, halls are generally constructed with interior partitions or exterior annexes. 12 objects could be examined in detail, i.e. using data on the areas of building components as well as descriptions of the construction process (data up to the 2nd costing level).
The dates of completion of the analysed warehouses lie in the period 1980 to 2010.
