MFH from 1949 to 1978 for East Germany – compilation of representative buildings

The synthetic multi-family house from 1949 to 1978 for East Germany is derived from the following six representative buildings: 

Four-storey multi-family house, post-1945, masonry construction, unconverted attic    

  • Exterior walls: plastered brickwork
  • Ceilings: reinforced-concrete prefabricated ceilings
  • Roof: gabled roof (reinforced-concrete girders) with rigid covering

 

Five-storey multi-family house, post-1945, masonry construction, unconverted attic

  • Exterior walls: Plastered brickwork
  • Ceilings: reinforced-concrete prefabricated ceilings (so-called “Zwickauer” ceilings)
  • Roof: gabled roof (reinforced concrete-girders) with rigid covering

 

 

Four-storey multi-family house, 1961-1970, block-style and strip-style design, unusable attic

  • Exterior walls: block design made of lightweight concrete
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete (F-ribbed ceilings)
  • Roof: flat roof (gabled roof) with non-rigid covering

Five-storey multi-family house, post 1970, large panel design, unusable attic

  • Exterior walls: reinforced concrete (3-layer-panels)
  • Ceilings: reinforced concrete
  • Roof: flat roof with non-rigid covering
